Bradford breekt 24 uurs ergometer wereldrecord

Via Elly ontvingen we dit bericht over een geweldige prestatie van onze vrienden van Bradford Grammar School:

'At 10am on Saturday morning, a team of ten senior BGS rowers began their bid to break the Concept2 World U19 Lightweight 24 hour record held by Orlando Rowing Club, Florida. Rowing in two minute shifts, with carefully practised changeovers to avoid losing momentum, the boys rowed all through the day and all through the

night, with eight rowers involved in each two-hour shift allowing two of the team to snatch a little sleep before they were back on the ergometer.

At two minutes to 9 on Sunday morning, with over an hour to spare, the boys crashed through the existing world record and went on to row until 10 am, breaking the record by an impressive 18,182 metres!

Very many congratulations to the team (Euan, John ,Tom, Alex, Ben, Daniel, Will, Jonty, Felix and Lewis) and to their coaches, Mr Darnborough and Miss Markham, and parents who supported them through the night.

An incredible achievement! Watch this space for how much they raised- all donations are still very welcome.
